CHAPTER BY CHAPTER BOOK TOUR: A BOOK REVIEW ON SARA WOLF'S FORGET ME ALWAYS (LOVELY VICIOUS #2)
Title: Forget Me Always (Lovely Vicious #2)
Author: Sara Wolf
Published: November 1, 2016
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Previously published as Savage Delight, this fully revised and updated edition is full of hilarity, drama, and heartbreak.
It’s been three years, twenty-five weeks, and five days since Isis Blake fell in love, and if she has it her way, it’ll stretch into infinity. Since then, she’s punched Jack Hunter— her nemesis-turned-maybe-something-more—in the face, survived a brutal attack by her mom’s abusive ex thanks to Jack’s heroics, and then promptly forgotten all about him. [...]
I'll try not to give away any spoilers from the first book but that might be a challenge considering that the second book delves deeper into what happened in Love Me Never. If there are any spoilers, I'll make sure to give a heads up, but you have been warned!
Similar to the first book, reading Forget Me Always has been a delightful experience (with an itsy bitsy hint of frustration). A delight, because Isis Blake, the protagonist is such a funny, witty and clever girl. Sara Wolf makes sure that her characters are round – giving each of them enough issues to make them interesting, but not exaggerating those issues too much to the point that the reader can't relate to them. Reading Isis’ thoughts is always a funny experience.
She lets her mind run wild with her imaginations and some lines would just get you laughing out loud! Her hirits or punchlines are the best part of Wolf’s writing. However, I wish that there were breaks in-between POV shifts from Isis to Jack and vice versa because it could get confusing at certain points! [SPOILER] At one point, I didn’t realize it shifted to Jack’s POV not until I read the word ‘escort’ oops!
Knowing the background story of the different characters was probably my favorite part. They all went through the same thing, witnessed the same incident, but each had their own way of coping – just how it happens in real life. Wolf manages to create a storyline that dramatizes issues and scenarios that happen in real life but somehow she succeeds in not going over the top. And of course, in true Wolf fashion, she needs to have a cliffhanger for the ending.
